Project Manager - Bridge Division (Click to Expand)

Responsible for multiple projects throughout division.  Develops plan for 4-8 weeks out and ensures foreman is taking all necessary steps to ensure plan is carried out.  Adjusting plan as necessary based on field conditions and progress.

JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver project on time and within budget as leader of the Project Team.
  • Estimate and execute project from bid stage to construction.
  • Partner with Safety Director and Superintendent to ensure company and client safety expectations are exceeded on site.
  • Review contracts to ensure complete project compliance with policies, regulations, laws and permits.
  • Coordinate work methods with Superintendent and Field Engineer to ensure all operations are conducted in alignment with company procedures and best management practices.
  • Adjust and troubleshoot work methods as needed to maintain project quality and schedule.
  • Responsible for subcontractor selection, negotiation, contract, and coordination.
  • Oversee all procurement for project and the primary person for major purchases.
  • Verify and edit all major project documentation such as schedule, submittals, RFI’s, change orders, subcontracts, etc.
  • Lead company liaison with client and responsible for exceptional client satisfaction.
  • Develop and mentor project engineers, superintendents, and foreman.
  • Review, update, and approve project budgets, invoices, and pay estimates.
  • Coordinate company resources such as equipment and personnel between projects.
  • Estimate and execute contract change orders with both client and necessary subcontracts.
  • Estimate and calculate take offs for upcoming projects.
  • Complete required preconstruction paperwork.
  • Organize and oversee construction processes and ensure they are completed on time and on budget.
  • Provide schedules and update as jobs progress.
  • Have thorough and complete understanding of the contract, subcontracts, plans, and specifications.
  • Ability to manage 4-5 projects at any given time, with 2-3 estimates going on at any given time.
  • Correspond daily or as needed with MoDOT.
  • Complete paperwork throughout jobs such as; E2O Reports, coding invoices, financial projections, Sharepoint uploads, purchase orders, change orders, etc.
  • Coordinate/schedule subs and material or coordinate with foreman/superintendent to schedule as needed.
  • Oversee safety precautions throughout the project.
  • Assist with final paperwork and closing out projects.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERTISE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Prefer 5 to 7 years of experience in the Construction Management field.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience working on bridge related projects.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in transportation project management and engineering in the fields related to highways, roadways, and bridges.
  • Skill in operating personal computer and programs such as spreadsheets, database, and word processing software.
  • Extensive experience in Microsoft Excel preferred.

Bridge Superintendent (Click to Expand)

SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Senior Project Manager, exercises supervision over road and bridge maintenance/construction crews. Determines and suggests needed repairs on the county, state, and federal road systems and bridges. Prepares estimates and follows road and bridge maintenance/construction projects from initiation through completion of the project.

JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meets with Senior Project Manager, company Superintendents and Engineers, Lead Workers, local officials, as well as developers, contractors, property owners and others to give out and receive information and to assist in solving problems in ways most beneficial to the road system and bridges.
  • Plans work assignments and supervises crews to complete these assignments.
  • Reviews employee daily time entries. Verifies and approves time cards and material requisition slips.
  • Prepares cost estimates for county, state, and federal road systems and bridges, and road maintenance/construction projects. Develops bid packages for materials and contractor work.
  • Contacts local officials, utility companies and the public to resolve problems on the road system and bridges. Supervises the preparation of information to be called into the Miss Dig system for county road work.
  • Trains, counsels and disciplines assigned employees.
  • Inspects road conditions to determine maintenance/construction needs.
  • Supervises heavy maintenance crews and subcontractor when working on county, state, and federal projects.
  • May be required to perform a variety of tasks related to or associated with the road systems and bridges.
  • Through correspondence, telephone, or in person, answer questions concerning road and bridge activities and explains procedures and regulations.

  • Ability to traverse projects to determine acceptability of materials used and work progress.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school education, GED, or equivalent education preparation.
  • Five years minimum experience in road and bridge construction/maintenance operations.
  • Two years minimum experience in heavy equipment operation.
  • Ability to work satisfactorily and supervise other employees.
  • Ability to maintain adequate files and documentation as required.
  • Ability to work extended hours

Capital Materials Quarry Division is seeking candidates for equipment operators for our quarry locations throughout central and western Missouri.  Quarry equipment operators are responsible for safely operating equipment such as haul trucks, front end loaders, graders, excavators, skid steers and crushing equipment.  General mechanical maintenance knowledge including but not limited to welding, cutting and fabrication also a plus.  MSHA training required for this position, and past mining/quarry experience is preferred.

The position will consist of:

  • Operating equipment in a safe and efficient manner under varying weather conditions while exposed to dampness, fumes, dust, electrical, mechanical and traffic hazards.
  • Being knowledgeable in the operation of multiple pieces of industry related equipment.
  • Routine maintenance on the equipment, to include keeping equipment clean and operable.
  • Communicate with Foreperson and coworkers to the daily job specifications.
  • Perform general labor duties when necessary.
  • Operates power driven machinery such as jack hammer, tamper, or other similarly sized equipment.
  • Operates one or more of the following pieces of heavy construction equipment skillfully, safely, and in accordance with traffic laws and regulations: scrapers, heavy graders, motor graders or blades, large trenchers, rock cutters, front end loaders (four cubic yards and over), heavy steel wheeled rollers, bulldozers and other light weight, medium weight, and heavy duty equipment.
  • Works with a labor crew when not operating equipment.
  • Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.
  • Work with powered and non-powered hand tools (i.e. rakes, shovels, etc.).

Quarry Foreman :Clinton, MO (Click to Expand)

Capital Materials is currently recruiting for a Quarry Foreman at our Clinton, MO location. The individual will plan, coordinate and supervise quarry operations to meet plant production needs. Will ensure quarry site operates safely, efficiently and successfully. Maintain specified records on employees and jobs completed. Should be familiar with MSHA/OSHA regulations, quarry processing equipment (i.e. crushers, belt conveyors), and general maintenance of equipment.

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, is preferred, but not required. Minimum high school degree or GED required. 2 – 5 years working in mining/quarry operations with managerial and front line supervisory experience.
