“Coming into this, I didn’t know how to run any type of equipment but now I feel confident running a skid steer, wheel loader, and dozer. Being in this industry, there’s always different things to do, you’re never stuck doing the same thing every day.”
– Kamden Elam, 2022 Graduate

“My favorite part of the academy is job shadowing because I think it’s a great tool to have. It lets us go into the industry and figure out what we like and dislike so that we aren’t just thrown into a job. And I really like that they treat us like actual employees going out there and not just students.” – Annie Pruitt, 2023 Graduate

“I wanted to join the industry mainly because I feel like being able to build something is really important” … “this is really building something – building roads, building bridges, forming concrete. This is really something” – Reagan Davis, 2023 Graduate

“The best part of the academy is being able to run all the equipment. We’ve had multiple different machines we’ve been able to get on. We’ve ran dozers, small skid steers, big skid steers and we’ve ran a front loader. We’ve been trained on what we need to do if there’s a problem with it. Overall safety is the most important aspect of it. When you’re running any piece of machinery, always safety first.”
